The Man and Horse

There once was a man
Who lived by himself
Very old and decrepit was he.
But he worked and he slaved
on his lonely old ranch..
he bustled and bustled all day.

This man owned a horse
who was shabby and weak
Very old and decrepit was he.
But he worked for the man
on his lonely old ranch..
he hauled and hauled all day.

These two stood together
in understanding
Very old and decrepit were they.
But happy they worked
And happy they slaved..
Laughing and laughing all day.

There once came a storm
that was strong and loud
very wet and bright it was
Poured hours and hours
On this lonely old ranch
It rained and rained all day.

The horse was alone
in his tired old shed
Loud and cold the wind was
he thought of the man
Alone in his house
So he fussed and fussed all day

The storm threw lightening
at the small shed
Very warm the fire was
The man ran out
To save his steed
He puffed and puffed the way there

As the man came closer
He feel to the ground
Very old and decrepit was he.
He watched the shed burn
With his loved one inside
He cried and he cried all night

In the morning light
The man nearly gone
Very hurt and tired was he
His horse came through
The burnt shed door
Limping and limping to his side

With love in his eyes
The horse on his knees
very burnt and scorched was he
He nuzzled the man
As they let out their breath
Crying and crying all day

The horse put his nose
under the man
Lifting and lifting was he!
The man could stand
and horse could walk
They smiled and smiled away

The man's sight was back
and he saw the horse
very amazed and shocked was he
For the horse had gone
back to it's youth
Galloping, galloping away.

The man was racing
Through the field
hacking and coughing was he!
When he picked up speed
he jumped on the horse
Trotting and trotting away.
