Running through the forest
In bare feet
Sticks hitting my crimson shins
Whoever makes it to the
cabin first
Is the one that wins.
As I'm rushing to
That bright house
I keep tripping and falling
Racing for my life
When I hear
His commanding voice calling
I see the markings of the
Safety zone
pushing myself, making me sore.
On hands and knees
I scramble
Up the stairs, to the door.
So I knock
Wondering what to say
Explainations don't come easy
To me now
But I know I'll find a way.
Thinking of how to
explain my pain
I see the lights dim
Don't you know?
I'm running away
From the scrapes of him.
I knocked, knocked, knocked
lights go off
Why is your door locked?
What's wrong with this picture?
This isn't right
I turn around to
see his face
In the blue-grey moonlight.
Fear replaces hope
Ice replaces blood
He grabs me off the porch
Pushing me in mud.
Your light is off
And so is my mind
He takes what he wants
And in the morning you'll find
My battered body
Splattered with red
An "I love you" in my throat,
and "I need you" never said.
