as i lay sleeping, i am weeping
scratching, screaming, bumping, beating
i awake and turn to leave
suddenly, my chest will heave
gusting, ghosting, haunting, heating

i see the shadow at my window
tapping, tearing, watching, waiting
i can't run, for he has me

he is there staring, always glaring

thinking, thrilling, frowning, fearing

the hauntings increase and never cease
crawling, creeping, raving, reaching
my window is open, come
there's no feeling, i am numb
taking, tugging, scroungiing, screeching

i submit to him and all his grim
shrugging, shrieking, giving, greaving
i can't stand this pain, this gift
i pray, lord, my soul, please lift
touching, teasing, lifting, leaving

i hear his cries, and start to rise
fleeing, flying, singing, sighing
goodbye tears and jealousy
goodbye pain he put on me
cringing, crying, doubting, dying.
